Daniel Guyer

Passion and tradition is a hard combination to beat. Danny Guyer started duck hunting with his father at age 8 when standing on a milk crate was required for looking or shooting out of the blind. His father David, an inductee in the Waterfowler’s Hall of Fame, took great pride in teaching his sons to hunt ducks and geese.

Danny has called both species for over 42 years. His participation in Ducks Unlimited started in 1971 where like-minded men and women shared their knowledge with this eager young man. Today he competes in calling contests and has a fine guiding service in different parts of Missouri, including the stretch of excellent duck hunting water on Smithville Lake where he scattered his father’s ashes.

“Where else would he want to be buried?” Guyer quietly adds. “My ashes will probably be scattered in the same stretch of lake some day.”

Guyer believes that a quality duck or goose hunt includes setting up where the birds want to go, watching the dogs retrieve downed birds and good conversation in the blind. His knowledge of waterfowl hunting makes each hunt an adventure when anything can happen. His partner, Luke Rhoad, blends calling techniques with Guyer’s to create sounds that duck seldom hear and quickly respond to. Both have honed their skills to a science that creates a lot of successful duck hunts.

Guyer is a seasoned hunter who has hunted the Mississippi and Central Flyways most of his life. His hunting exploits have taken him all over the world including Hawaii for turkey and Chinese pheasants to a safari in Mombassa Kenya, Africa for water buffalo and other big game. Today he mainly guides hunters for Midwestern waterfowl, turkeys and other species.

“My grandfather, father and other relatives all hunted,” Guyer said. “Guess you could say that hunting was bred into me. I really enjoy sharing a good hunt with others. I love my work.”

This accomplished hunter has thousands of acres thru North West, Missouri that produces excellent hunting adventures for deer, turkey, waterfowl, predator, and hog. He offers services for training and breeding AKC registered Labrador retrievers. Youth, Military and Union Sportsman's Alliance (USA) offered discounted rates.

Guyer loves to teach young or old hunters how to blow a duck or goose call while providing a quality hunt.
